At the Trade Deadline 13: Package from Spiegel?

My card desk is in disarray, which seems to be a fairly common problem among the blogosphere, although other folks seem to at least keep a better handle on who has sent them which cards. I found the following stack of cards sitting on top of a bubble mailer marked with the name 'Spiegel,' so I am assuming these are the cards sent to me by Spiegel83 of Nomo's Sushi Platter. I also recognize one of the cards from this post from a post on his trade bait blog, so I think I am in the clear here. I have at least one trade stack I know of that has a lost batch of scans on my wife's portable hard drive, and I am not sure where that is, nor do I remember where it came from off the top of my head. I also hope that I did indeed send some acceptable cards back to Spiegel83. If not, I would hope that he would let me know so that I can correct my error. Enough wallowing! On to the cards! Okay, a little more wallowing. I am pretty sure I did not scan all of the cards in the stack. Lately I have been doing my scanning in a hurry while my wife waits for help in getting the kids to bed, so I am all in a rush to get upstairs at least before my relationship bar gets too far into the red.

First up is a couple of cards from Triple Play. Don't mind Brett Wallace there, he is just busy studying your soul. I am a little more comfortable with Felix Hernandez' gaze, as he is at least trying to appear nonchalant about it. I kind of like these Triple Play cards, but I don't know much about them. I think I have copies of R.A. Dickey's card somewhere and may have either looked at or actually purchased Josh Reddick's card. I don't know. My cards are a disorganized mess.

Up next are a bunch of variously-colored parallels featuring Astros and Mariners. I hope that Maxwell did not injure himself on that wall. I kind of thought of Melancon as a Red Sox player, but it would appear that he spent more time with Houston than he has anywhere else to this point. He had a pretty decent regular season in Pittsburgh last year.

This Biggio card reminds me a little of the scene in Temple of Doom where Indiana Jones is running away from the giant boulder. Altuve is doing his best Michael Jordan impression, playing with his tongue sticking out. Also a nice Cisnero colored parallel and a tiny Altuve from Gypsy Queen.

These appear to be some temporary tattoos. Buckner is known mostly for a fielding mistake in the 1986 World Series, but I know him as the name behind a failed auto dealership in my hometown.

Here we have a couple of famous Mariners, Ken Griffey Jr. and Ichiro. I don't know what that set is on the first Griffey, but I like that card. I don't really know what ToppsTown is either, but it's a shiny card. I recognize the sets on the cards in the bottom row.

And here is the big papa of the stack, a serially-numbered relic of Felix Hernandez. It's a pretty cool-looking card, and numbered # 078 / 130. The scan doesn't really do it justice.

It's taken me way too long to type this up. I appreciate the package, and all of these cards are pretty nice. Thanks, Spiegel!

  1. Great trade , dude. The shiny Griffey card is from a Topps Value box at retail stores. Glad you liked the cards I sent. We should get another trade going.
