Last night my dad and I took my kids to the big local car show. Afterward, the kids said they had a good time, but you wouldn't have known it during the event, as there was plenty of whining going on. It was probably good for all of us to get out of the house, and the kids really enjoy spending time with their grandpa. The cars at the show were pretty neat, although I didn't get to look at as many as I'd like because herding the kids around stresses me out. I would love to resto-mod an old Datsun 510 or 240z, or an old Ford pick-up, but that is an expensive hobby and working on cars makes me swear more than I should.
Spider-Man was there, and my 8-year old was nervous that Spider-Man would give him guff about it. Sure enough, Spider-Man told him that when he gets an animated LEGO movie, it will be much bigger than Batman's film. He still posed with the kids for a few pictures, though, and whoever is under the mask seems like a pretty nice guy.
In addition to relic cards showing the drivers themselves, 2016 Panini Prizm Racing had relic cards for the driver & crew, showing the pit crew in action rather than a driver photo. I picked up this Green Flag parallel of Danica's Race Team card on eBay at some point in the last few months. I've got weekly racing posts queued up well into the coming months, so by the time I post on them, the details behind the acquisitions will be sketchy at best. This one is numbered # 129 / 149.
Today's race was the Kobalt 400 at Las Vegas Motor Speedway. Danica Patrick's engine blew up late in the race and she finished in 36th place. She hadn't been running much higher than that before the motor blew up, from what I saw. I was at church for most of the race, so I only tracked the standings on the website for the third stage of the race. The finish drops Danica to 30th overall in the driver standings.
