Fights in Black and White

I chose a couple of UFC fighters to make PCs out of, and Iraqi-born Canadian Randa Markos was one of them. I don't think she has a certified autograph or any relic cards out there, so I just have base cards and parallels to chase for now. She's got a 5-3 professional record, with her last fight being a loss by decision to Karolina Kowalkiewicz back in December. I don't think she's got another fight scheduled yet.

One of the other fighters who I started a PC for, Neil Magny, has a fight this weekend at Fight Night 85 against Hector Lombard, who looks like a pretty tough dude. I'm going to try to watch that fight, and I hope Magny does well.

I recently got this Black and White parallel of Markos from 2015 Topps UFC Chronicles on eBay. The Black and White parallels are probably the best-looking parallels in the set and would make for a fun set build. They have a print run of 188 copies, with this card being # 187 / 188. I briefly thought about putting the set together, but that's a pretty big investment. It's a 275-card checklist, and cards of people like Holly Holm, Ronda Rousey, Conor McGregor, Sage Northcutt, and Paige VanZant don't come cheap. It'd cost several hundred dollars to build a set even if you got a few big lots at a good price/card.

  1. I've always been a fan of b&w photography. I'm sure it would annoy some baseball card collectors, but I wouldn't object to Topps doing a b&w parallel in Stadium Club or something. Although I guess a fraction of the SC line is already in b&w.

    1. They did a Black & White parallel in 2015 Stadium Club but it was limited to a print run of 17, so you hardly ever see any of them. There is a Black & White parallel in the 2016 Stadium Club checklist as well, but the listed odds for it are 1:48 packs so it's again going to be a pretty limited pull.

In this UFC set you get a couple of the Black & White parallels per jumbo pack, so you might get 15-20 in a box. That at least means you can track them down and have a chance at building a set.
