I finally tracked down some Bowman at Walmart, but I'm not going to talk about that today. I haven't taken pictures of the cards I pulled yet. There weren't any Ohtani Superfractors in my packs, that's for sure.
Every so often, Leaf puts out a card in their Leaf Live line. I think they are sold exclusively through the official Leaf eBay account. I think the only other Leaf Live card I've purchased was when Tim Tebow signed a baseball contract with the Mets. This time the card highlighted Shohei Ohtani's AL Player of the Week award win for his pitching and hitting performances. I bought the first couple of Topps Now Ohtani cards, but I've stopped that for now. I figured I might as well get this one from Leaf, too.
Awesome, but I am not sure I could pull the trigger on a logoless card. Still hard to get used to unless it is a 1980s/1990s food-product card.
ReplyDeleteI will take a card with logos over a card without them any day of the week, but with exclusive licensing deals I've resigned myself to the fact that I'm occasionally going to be chasing cards of guys who look like they're wearing pajamas. I thought it was interesting that they left the New Era logo on his cap.
DeleteI had no idea Leaf Live was a thing. Huh!
ReplyDeleteIt has a weird checklist with infrequent additions. There was a kerfluffle when it debuted, because the first card was a Gene Wilder memorial. People accused Leaf of trying to monetize his death.
DeleteI was actually just wondering if Leaf Live was even still a thing - funny how that works out. Not a bad looking card, despite the lack of logos.
ReplyDeleteIt is barely still a thing. The previous card in the set was the Tim Tebow card released near the end of 2016, so it's been over a year since they added to it.
